Dr. Shelley Jordan,
Dr. Shelley Jordan is a Clinical Psychologist and has been providing psychological services for adolescents and adults with anxiety and trauma-related disorders in Ottawa for over 20 years. She completed her PhD at the University of Ottawa in 1999. She has a breadth of experience and training in the areas of trauma-related disorders, chronic pain, complex psychiatric issues, and forensic assessment and treatment. She was a part-time professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Ottawa for 18 years and won the Part-Time Professor of the Year award in 2005. She was clinical supervisor of graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program at the University of Ottawa for 3 years and won the Part-Time Supervisor of the Year award in 2009.
Dr. Jordan was and continues to be mentored by Dr. George Fraser, Psychiatrist whose contribution to the field of complex trauma and dissociation is immeasurable. Dr. Jordan has extensive knowledge and years of experience in the assessment and treatment of trauma disorders including Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Dissociative Disorders and Complex Trauma Conditions. She has worked with Canadian Forces members, veterans, police officers, first responders, and those traumatized from childhood abuse, physical and sexual assaults, workplace injuries, and motor vehicle accidents.
Dr. Jordan provides clinical consultation and training to support best practices in the treatment of trauma related disorders to clinicians throughout Ottawa. Her treatment approach is evidence-based, combined with compassion and caring. Her treatment approaches include Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Exposure Therapy, Ego-State Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, Interpersonal Therapy, and Acceptance and Mindfulness approaches. She also has extensive experience and provides training in Group Therapy.
